Hello everyone and welcome to the Inventrue Newsletter!

In this installment, we are highlighting features that you may not know about. Some of them are new; others are things that we’ve been getting a lot of questions on.

**Please note that the information in all of the examples below is bogus. It was entered in our system for testing purposes only and does not represent actual data.**

Some manufacturers have been posting 360 Tours/Views on their websites and we have been loading them into the applicable units in our database. These get pushed out to you, our dealers, without you having to do anything. When someone lands on one of your inventory items that has a video loaded, it is automatically available for them to view. This is an ongoing process; if you know the manufacturer has one available but we haven’t loaded it yet, please let us know so we can add it.

You can also add your own videos to your specific inventory if you want. These will only be visible on your website; it will NOT be pushed out to our other dealers. To use this feature:

  • Record your video and publish it to YouTube.
    • Go to the YouTube page with that video.
    • Click the SHARE button then the EMBED button to display the code.
    • Copy the SRC section of the embed code. You only need the part that is inside the quotation marks, after src= .
  • Log into your back panel on www.Inventrue.com then click the button in the upper right corner with your name on it.
  • Select Manage Inventory.
  • Find the unit to which you want to add the Video. Click on it to highlight it.
  • Click the Edit button to display the Detail tab.
  • Find the YouTube Link field in the bottom third section of the page.
  • Right click in this field and paste the code you copied from the Embed window, starting with https… At the end of the code which should NOT have quotation marks, type ?rel=0 . This will prevent YouTube from playing any other videos automatically after yours is finished.
  • Press the blue Submit button in the bottom right corner of the screen to save your changes.

Export Caption

This feature allows you to enter an attention-grabbing note about a specific unit. It should be used to highlight a unit that has special features that people would not know about unless they clicked on it—but you want to entice them into clicking on it to find out more. Some suggested uses are for an old unit say, a 1995 model year that only had “One-Owner and is still in Pristine Condition”, or a newer model that was “Only Used Once”. This would also be a good place to note “No Trade Allowed” when applicable if you want it to really stand out.

** This option should be used sparingly so the units that do have these notes stand out. ** The screenshot below shows how a unit would look in the search results on your site using this feature.

To use this feature:

  • Log into your back panel then click the button in the upper right corner with your name on it.
  • Select Manage Inventory.
  • Find the unit to which you want to add the Export Caption. Click on it to highlight it.
  • Click the Edit button to display the Detail tab.
  • Find the Export Caption field in the bottom third section of the page.
  • Enter the text as you want it to appear on the site. It will be displayed exactly as you type it into this field.
  • Press the blue Submit button in the bottom right corner of the screen to save your changes.

Overlay Text

This feature allows you to put a very brief note, up to 25 characters, on top of the Base Image. Some suggested uses are to highlight units that are on Clearance, have a Sale Pending, previous years’ models that are still New, or models with a New Floorplan. The screenshot below shows how a unit would look in the search results on your site using this feature.

To use this feature:

  • Log into your back panel then click the button in the upper right corner with your name on it
  •  Select Manage Inventory.
  • Find the unit to which you want to add the Overlay Text. Click on it to highlight it.
  • Click the Edit button to display the Detail tab.
  • Find the Overlay Color field in the bottom third section of the page. Select the color of the box you want the text displayed in – Yellow, Green, Red or Blue.
  • Enter the Overlay Text as you want it to appear on the site. Please note that the text will always be shown as full uppercase, regardless of how it is entered in this field.
  • Press the blue Submit button in the bottom right corner of the screen to save your changes.

No Trade Allowed Status

If you have a unit on which you do NOT want to accept a trade-in, you now have that option in the Status field.

To use this feature:

  • Log into your back panel then click the button in the upper right corner with your name on it.
  • Select Manage Inventory.
  • Find the unit to which you want to add the Overlay Text. Click on it to highlight it.
  • Click the Edit button to display the Detail tab.
  • Find the Status field in the top third section of the page. Select No Trade Allowed from the drop-down.
  • Press the blue Submit button in the bottom right corner of the screen to save your changes.

Google Analytics

To have access to the most in-depth information about your website—how many people are landing on which pages, how long they stay on each page, what time of day you get the most activity, whether people are using a desktop computer or a smartphone and whether it’s iOS or Android, etc.—we strongly recommend you open a Google Analytics account. Google already has the infrastructure set up to capture all of these things and so much more. Once you have an account, you simply need to save your Account ID in the back panel for Google to start capturing data.

To use this feature:

  • Log into your back panel then click the External Services tab along the left side of the screen.
  • Click in the Google Analytics Account ID field and enter the number assigned to you by Google.
  • Press the blue Submit button in the upper right corner of the screen to save your changes.

Expect it to take 2-4 weeks before you start seeing meaningful information in your Google Analytics Account, depending on how much traffic your site normally gets.

The biggest tip to increasing traffic on your site is to keep the content fresh. This means you should be doing something on your site at least once a week.

  • Update the banners on your home page.
  • Add a temporary page for a special promotion if you have one running.
  • Back-link to other websites from yours.
  • Add new pictures to existing inventory. For example, if you added a unit when there was snow on the ground and it’s the middle of the summer, Google’s algorithms “know” that it’s an old picture. Adding pictures to the unit that reflect the current season will increase your rating with Google.

These are just a few suggestions. More information is available to you through your Google Analytics account.
